  • If looking to bu a Syn signature, sustainiac VS the synbucker (neck)?
    Muz Malek
    Syn Custom
Pros: Purely passive setting, split coil functionality
Cons: not really a con, but you just won't get that crazy Sustainiac functions. The sustain on its own is pretty damn good tbh

    Syn Custom-S
Pros: Expands possibility of playing with the various Sustainiac functions
Cons: again, not a really heavy setback, but have to be a bit wary of the battery maintenance. Considered an active guitar. No split coil function. Some people also don't like the Sustainiac as a standalone neck pickup. but that's purely personal preference. Personally, I have no issues with both the Custom-S and normal. and yes, a couple hundred bucks more than the normal series.

Gotta say, I'm kind of over the Sustainiac, and I think Syn might be too. The crazy harmonic feedback/sustain stuff is cool for a while, and essential for songs like Nightmare and So Far Away, but it's kind of thin when using as a normal pickup, and not the greatest tone. And there's more wiring and stuff inside to cause issues. I prefer the Syn Custom USA Signature pickups.
Spent years learning blues, wanting to change it up. What’s something I could add to this?
