Hi,
I have a little question on chords and notes and I don’t know if it’s explained on the site or not, but what’s the theory behind notes such as 5th and 7th notes?

How is always thought it worked was That a minor third is the third not in the minor scale and major third is the third note in the major scale, the same foright 2nds, 4th, 5th,6th and 7ths. But i’masturbated not sure whether that is the actual theory that’s Just how in find them
