So many questions

I know I have a lot of questions (as I want to learn eagerly) I have a cable to put my guitar into my computer (Great!) but how do I also play something like Richard’s sweet backing track so I can make a wicked solo over it?

Don’t worry about having lots of guestions that’s where this school is for. If you use recording software you should be able to have a track with richard’s backing track in it and then create a new track with your own solo in it. I think that should work

I use a line six POD studio gx audio interface. They are sold on amazon. I also used logic pro x as my recording software.

There are a huge variety of options to you depending on what systaem you use, and these options can range from next to free to multi thousand dollar. You’d be surprised the quality of sound you can get from next to free setups. Do you have a Mac? If so, Garageband has lots of surprisingly high quality software instruments that you can use to supplement instruments you don’t have, such as drums and bass. There’s also software such as EzDrummer. Audacity is EXTREMELY powerful for being free. As far as the playing aspect, pick a key and go for it! Start with rhythm parts and then construct a lead part over that. You can construct near infinite lead parts from one 3-or-4-chord rhythm track. Just have fun with it!

For recording i use audacity. Easy simple to the point.
But yeah open a track in the file and hit record. Should play the track while it records you.
