Picking hand issues

I consider myself a solid guitar player. I holded the pick the ,,traditional” way, eith two fingers. But few weeks ago I wanted to change it, to hold the pick with 3 fingers. Play like that for a week. It wasnt the best so I wanted to return to my original technique. But now I cant downpick as I used. I could downpick at 240 bpm, now I cant even play Master of Puppets. Its so frustrating! Anybody had a similar issue?

I have not a similar issue but I can help you! We can have bad habits and way to overcome this practice with "traditional way" Use metronome and start slowly always!

it's because you didn't play the way you played before for a couple of weeks then its hard to get back again, because the muscle memory was starting to learn something different, it happened to me when i changed the way i hold the pick after a couple of weeks i couldn't play with the old one or the new one so basically just re-learn the picking hand haha

I understand your problem. In over 35 years, I've NEVER been able to downpick fast enough to play Master properly.
